Turn Excel Into Your Personal Journal

Imagine being able to keep journal entries in Excel.

Now I’m not talking about accounting journal entries. I’m talking about recording your thoughts from the day so that you can go back and review them later.

That’s what we are really talking about here! The only question is, how do you do that?

The Daily Journal Template

One of the templates that you can download right here at Spreadsheet Life is the Daily Journal Template for Excel.

This nifty spreadsheet makes it super easy to record a journal entry for any day. All you have to do is enter the date, record your thoughts, and hit submit.

On top of that, you can look up the journal entry from any day simply by typing in the date and hitting the lookup button. It really is that simple.

Why Record Journal Entries in the First Place?

So now that you have the how, what is the why? Why keep a record of your thoughts from day to day anyway?

That’s an excellent question! The best answer I can give you is that you will be surprised what you forget over time.

As humans, our memory serves us well, but not quite as well as we may first imagine. Recording your thoughts over time is a wonderful way to look into your past and reflect on some of the things you might have forgotten along the way.

Plus, if you still are not convinced, here are ten quotes on keeping a journal!
