Six Quotes and Six Spreadsheets

For this motivational post, here are six quotes to think about and a spreadsheet to match up with each.

Quote 1 – Amelia Earhart

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.

When it comes to life, you always have a choice. What you choose to do day in and day out is completely up to you.

If you choose to complete all your tasks and stay disciplined, you will reach your goals in the end. If you decide to slack off a little here and a little there, you may fall short of what you aim for.

And probably the most important thing to consider when it comes to decisions is to actually make a decision. Too often, we become stuck trying to make the perfect decision, and our opportunity slips away.

Make a decision, and move forward from there. Even if you make the wrong decision, at least your not standing still.

Quote 2 – Albert Einstein

The important thing is never to stop questioning.

In this day and age, you can look up almost anything on Google.

If you want to know how many species of birds there are, you can ask Google. If you want to know which celebrity recently got married, you can ask Google. If there is an answer you’re searching for, Google can probably help you find it.

Now considering how many answers are readily available to us, how come we are still searching for knowledge so often? Perhaps the solution to greater wisdom and knowledge lies more in the questions we ask than in the answers we find. Maybe if we ask better questions, we can learn what really matters.

The Five Whys Template

When you need to drill down to the root of a problem, sometimes the best thing you can do is ask questions.

Ask why, ask why, and then ask why again. Start on the surface and go deeper with each question. Follow this simple process, and you’ll get to the root eventually.

Quote 3 – Jim Rohn

Be a collector of good ideas. Keep a journal. If you hear a good idea, capture it, write it down. Don’t trust your memory.

What did you have for lunch four days ago? Do you remember? How about five days ago?

Our memory is amazing, but at the same time, there is so much that we forget.

Memories are some of the greatest treasures we have, and to lose some of them is a tragedy. This is why journaling is so powerful and so important.

Taking the time, even five minutes, to write down your thoughts can be one of the very best habits to build. You’ll remember more than you ever thought possible, and your journals will be a precious gift to those you pass them on to.

A clear vision, backed by definite plans, gives you a tremendous feeling of confidence and personal power.

A plan gives us direction. It allows us to set up the correct actions needed for success. As we work on our plan, our plan works on us.
