Round to the Nearest Multiple in Google Sheets

In this article, I will show you how to round to the nearest multiple in Google Sheets. For example, how to round a number like 113 to the nearest multiple of 5, which would be 115.

The MROUND Function

To round to the nearest multiple in Google Sheets, I highly recommend using the MROUND function.

This function accepts two arguments.

  • The original number
  • The factor (the number that determines the nearest multiple)

Example 1

Take the original number of 113.

Let’s say you want to round this number to the nearest multiple of 5.

Enter the MROUND function, and select the original number for the first argument and the factor of 5 for the second argument.

=MROUND(B1, B2)

As a result, the function gives you a final value of 115, which is the closest multiple of 5 to the original number of 113.

Example 2

Take the original number of 113 once again.

Let’s say you want to round this number to the nearest multiple of 10 this time.

Enter the MROUND function, and select the original number for the first argument and the factor of 10 for the second argument.

=MROUND(B1, B2)

As a result, the function gives you a final value of 110, which is the closest multiple of 10 to the original number of 113.
