How to Calculate Your Age in Google Sheets

In this article, I will show you how to calculate your age in Google Sheets.

Step 1 – Enter Your Birth Date

Start by entering your birth date somewhere in your Google Sheets spreadsheet.

Step 2 – Calculate Today’s Date

Select another cell, and enter the following formula.

=TODAY()

The TODAY function calculates the current date automatically.

Step 3 – Use the DATEDIF Function

Finally, select another cell and enter the following formula.

=DATEDIF(B1, B2, "Y")

The “Y” in the DATEDIF function forces it to calculate the number of full years between the two dates. As a result, you get back your age in Google Sheets.

Bonus – Calculate Your Age in Decimal Form

Let’s say you want to know how old you are to the precision of two decimal places. For instance, you’d like to know if you are 32.45 years old compared to just 32.

To perform this type of calculation, use the YEARFRAC function. Select the cell where you want your age, and enter the following formula.

=YEARFRAC(B1, B2)

The YEARFRAC function calculates your age in decimal format.
