Get Column Statistics in Google Sheets

Did you know that there is a really easy way to get all sorts of column statistics from a single column in Google Sheets? It’s actually a built-in feature!

The Column Stats Feature

In Google Sheets, you can activate the column stats feature simply by going to Data Column stats.

This will open up the Column Stats panel on the right side of your screen.

Whenever this panel is open, you can view the statistics for any column simply by selecting a cell in that column.

What Kind of Stats?

So what kind of statistics can you actually see while using this feature? Check out the list below to see for yourself!

You can see a count, frequency, or distribution of values.

You can see how many rows, empty cells, and unique values there are.

You can view the sum, median, average, minimum, and maximum for columns that contain numbers.

And you can even set up the panel to ignore the top few rows as well.

So if you ever find yourself trying to calculate some specific statistics from a single column in Google Sheets, try using this feature to help you out.
