Count Unique Values in Google Sheets

Did you know that there is a super easy way to get a count of unique values in Google Sheets?

All you have to do is use the COUNTUNIQUE function!

The COUNTUNIQUE Function

The COUNTUNIQUE function counts the number of unique values in a list of specified values and ranges.

Take a look at the list of colors below.

You can use the following formula to count how many unique colors there are.

=COUNTUNIQUE(A2:A9)

The COUNTUNIQUE function references the range of cells containing colors and returns a count of how many unique values it finds.

It’s really as easy as 1, 2, 3.

So the next time you need to count the number of unique values in Google Sheets, you are fully prepared to do so!
