Capture Geography Data in Excel

This article is going to blow your mind!

I’m going to show you how to capture geography data for any county in seconds!

No Google searching, and no slaving away entering data for hours!

Are you ready? Let’s go!

The Task

The task is simple but tedious.

Given these countries, you need to look up the population, the life expectancy, and the largest city for each.

Of course, you could always jump on Google and gather the information that way, but that would take forever!

Instead, here is what you should do.

The Solution

Start by selecting all the cells with countries, and then in the Ribbon, go to Data Geography.

This will convert the country names to Geography data types.

Now, with all the cells still selected, click on the insert data button.

Next, scroll to find and select the first metric you are looking for. In this case, it is population.

Click the insert data button again, and repeat for the life expectancy.

Finally, do this one more time for the largest city.

And just like that, you’ve got all the data for your countries in a matter of seconds rather than hours of work.

How amazing is that??
