Build Your Days With a Spreadsheet

With so much to get done during the day, it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle of daily to-dos.

This is why it is so important to build your days from the very beginning so that you’ve got a plan and you know what to do.

Here is a short and to-the-point post that will discuss how you can go about building your day with a spreadsheet!

The Layout

To get a handle on your day right from the very beginning, there are two main things you will need. They are:

  1. A tool to help you keep track of your time and events
  2. A tool to help you manage you tasks or to-dos

The good news is, there are plenty of tools out there to help you do either one of these things.

The best news is, you can do both of these things right in front of you on a single spreadsheet!

On the left side or your spreadsheet, you can put together a quick time grid that will allow you to visualize your time.

On the right side of your spreadsheet, you can put together a small table to organize all of your individual to-do items.

From this point forward, you are ready to begin building your day.

The Process

Now that you’ve got everything laid out and ready to go, you can begin using your setup to get your day together.

First and foremost, it is probably a good idea to map out important events and meetings you may have on your time grid.

This way you get a sense of how your day will flow and where you have made important commitments.

Another benefit of doing this is that it allows you to get a feel for how much free time you have readily available to be used for other tasks and to-dos.

Timeline with Important Events

The second major step is to list out all of your tasks or to-dos on your spreadsheet table located on the right.

Once you have everything written out in front of you, your mind can begin to focus on the how rather than the what.

The Benefit

Now that you’ve got your commitments into your time grid and your tasks into your table, you can take the final step of the process.

That is to execute the plan you’ve laid out before yourself.

Get started on you highest priority tasks and work on those in your free time. Once the time for a meeting or commitment swings around, place your presence and focus there and get the job done.

When your free time rolls back around, turn your focus to your high priority tasks once more.

Keep this up throughout the day and you will be making the most of your 24 hours!

As You Can See

With a well-crafted plan for your day, you rarely find yourself getting lost in the daily shuffle.

What’s more, you are more productive and get more done than ever before.

So before you rush through your days in haste, build your days from the beginning to make the most of each and every one.

After all, each day is a piece of the beautiful mosaic known as your extraordinary life.
