A Color Palette for Status Indicators

Imagine that you have a task list or something similar in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

Your spreadsheet looks great, but all you need to really spice it up are colors for the status indicators. The only question is, which colors do you use?

In this article, I will present you with a simple, subtle, but effective color palette that you can use to quickly identify the status of any task, project, or other item within Excel or Google Sheets.

The Color Palette

Here is the proposed color palette that you can use to identify up to five different status values for your task list.

The hex code for each color is what you can use to apply that color to cells within your spreadsheet.

Of course, you can switch up which color corresponds with each status. And you can even change the name of each status to something else.

Regardless of how you customize it, you can use the colors to really add some flare to your spreadsheet!

Why This Palette Is Effective

I believe this color palette works for a few reasons.

  1. The colors are all different enough to easily be distinguished from one another.
  2. The colors are soft enough to not be overly distracting, and yet they still get your attention.
  3. The colors are light enough so that you can still clearly read each status description.

As you can see, there are many excellent reasons to use a color palette like this within your Google Sheets or Excel spreadsheet.

Leave me a comment below to let me know what your opinion is on these colors.

After all, choosing colors can always be a very fun and personal decision for each and every person. And I would love to hear your thoughts!
